We thought you’d never get there

You met up in the Venture Scouts
When you were only teens
You didn’t have a care in the world
So young and full of beans

You both left home and married
But not to each other, it seems
And your friends gathered here today
Were left with just our dreams

We’ve done our best to keep in touch
To keep you both up to date
But we could only stay in the wings
And hope and pray and wait.

We arranged so many get togethers
Reunions ad infinitum
And then you started going out
And, hey, you were an item!

We are so thrilled you’ve got this far
And took your vows today
And, for our part, we are your friends
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
